March 28, 2011 [MundoMaritimo/PortStorage Group] - The company Smart Pass has just opened an independent tank facility at the port of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz.

The terminal has a total storage capacity of 7,200 cubic meters distributed in 5 tanks. Smart Pass’s operations on the Mexican port will begin with the loading, unloading and storage of chemicals that are shipped for export or import activities.

“The construction of the terminal started 18 months ago and its completion was achieved on schedule”, highlighted Gilberto Ríos Ruiz, the port’s managing director.

According to Mr. Ríos, this new terminal is the first part of Smart Pass’s expansion plans, which also include the building of 3 more tanks at API-Tuxpan, the port located in the Gulf of Mexico.

“On the other hand, the port of Coatzacoalcos will soon have two more liquid bulk terminals for which there is already an available area with two storage tanks, and by 2012 three more tanks will be built. These coming terminals will be the result of private investments which will help us increase the port’s activities in the next years”, Mr. Ríos concluded.
