Rutger van Thiel appointed as Oiltanking´s new Managing Director

May 20, 2010 [Oiltanking] - After almost 14 successful years in the company, Gust Spaepen, the current Managing Director of Oiltanking GmbH, has decided to leave the company for private reasons. Rutger van Thiel was appointed as his successor.

At the end of 2004, Gust Spaepen assumed the position as Oiltanking GmbH’s Managing Director. Since then he has continuously expanded the company’s business activities, increasing the total capacity of the Oiltanking Group from 10.9 million cbm (2004) to a current volume of 17.2 million cbm. This capacity is spread over 69 terminals in 21 countries. As such, Oiltanking has considerably strengthened its position as the number two in the market.

Rutger van Thiel, the present Managing Director of Oiltanking Asia-Pacific, has been working in global chemicals, oil and gas logistics for more than 20 years and has extensive know-how in the fields of management, sales and business development. Since 2000 Rutger van Thiel has held several leading positions with Oiltanking. In his capacity as Managing Director of Oiltanking Asia-Pacific he successfully expanded the company’s business in Southeast Asia since 2004, making Singapore one of the largest profit centres within the Oiltanking Group.

Rutger van Thiel will take over the management of Oiltanking GmbH on August 1, 2010.
