Russian Port of Primorsk Increases Berth Capacity for Diesel Tankers

August 12, 2016 [OPIS] - The NCSP group has enlarged two berths at the Russian port of Primorsk to allow heavier tanker cargoes to be shipped from the terminal, according to a company statement.


The operator increased the maximum draft at Primorsk’s berth 8 to 13.7 meters for tankers weighing up to 76,400 deadweight tons (dwt), and to 10.8 meters at berth 9 for vessels weighing up to 47,100 dwt, the group said yesterday.

The oil tanker Stena Premium was loaded with 57,000 metric tons of diesel cargo at Primorsk on August 1, the first time the port has loaded a 65,000 dwt tanker, according to NCSP. The Stena Premium, chartered by Vitol according to broker reports, sailed to Amsterdam where it is currently unloading the cargo, according to the OPIS Tanker Tracker.

“Increasing tanker loads from 30-40 to 60 thousand tons enables us to make maximum use of the berths’ capacity and opens new opportunities for export of oil products,” NCSP group chief executive officer Sultan Batov said in the statement.
