Russian Oil Exports via Port Kozmino to Reach 24.9 mln T This Year

December 29, 2014 [PortNews IAA] - Russian oil exports via port Kozmino, end point of ESPO Oil Pipeline, is expected to reach 24.9 mln t this year, Transneft – Port Kozmino LLC says in its press release.


As of December 29, 2014 the terminal exported 24.7 mln t of crude and two 100,000 shipments are to be made by the end of the year.

The majority of oil is exported to Japan – 8.9 mln t (36%), China – 5.9 mln t (23.9%), S. Korea – 3.6 mln t (14.6%), Malaysia – 1.6 mln t (6.5%), Thailand – 1.4 mln t (5.7%), Philippines – 1.3 mln t (5.3%), Singapore – 1.1 mln t (4.5%), New Zealand – 0.5 mln t (2%), Taiwan – 0.2 mln t (0.8%), USA – 0.1 mln t (0.4%), Indonesia – 0.08 mln t (0.3%). 

23.4 mln t of oil (94.7%) was delivered by ESPO-II and 1.3 mln t – by railway (5.3%).

By 2016 the second berth of the Kozmino port will be able to receive tankers with a deadweight up to 150,000 t (30,000 t more than today).  To achieve these targets, the approach dam reconstruction and dredging works will be implemented in the water area of the berth. 

Primorsky Territory, Russia based dedicated marine oil port (Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC), a subsidiary of Transneft JSC, was launched in late 2009. Kozmino Oil Terminal is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). The port was built for transshipment to oil tankers of crude oil supplied to the terminal through the main pipeline ESPO-2 and via the Far Eastern Railway. Upon completion of the ESPO terminal Phase 3 expansion project Kozmino capacity has reached 30 million tonnes a year.
