Russian Crude Exports via Oil Terminal Kozmino in 2016 rose 4.6% to 31.8 M tonnes

January 19, 2017 [PortNews IAA] - ESPO Crude exports from Primorsky Krai, Russia based Oil Port Kozmino between January and December 2016 totaled 31.8 million tonnes, up 1,4 million tonnes or 4.6% more than a year before, Transneft-Port Kozmino Company said.


In 2016 the ESPO Crude was exported to the following countries:

China – 22.2 million tonnes (69.8%), Japan – 3.9 million tonnes (12.3%), South Korea – 2.4 million tonnes (7.5%), Malaysia – 1.6 million tonnes (5%), Singapore – 0.6 million tonnes (1.9%), Thailand – 0.4 million tonnes (1.3%), the USA – 0.3 million tonnes (1%), the Philippines and New Zealand – 0.2 million tonnes (0.6%).

Overall, since the commissioning of the pipeline system Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean, Transneft-Port Kozmino has doubled its crude exports volume. In 2010 crude oil shipments reached 15.3 million tonnes and in 2016 the volume hit the 31.8m tonne mark. Since 2010 more than 155 million tonnes of the ESPO Crude were exported to the Asia-Pacific countries.

In 2017 the export oil terminal capacity allows to export from Kozmino 31.3 million tonnes, Transneft-Port Kozmino said.

Transneft-Port Kozmino LLC in conjunction with FSUE Rosmorport carries out the port expansion project, including overhaul of the dam and dredging of the basin of Berth No 2. This will allow two berths to accommodate 150,000 DWT oil tankers. The oil port capacity will be increased through the construction of new oil storage tanks. Transneft-Port Kozmino is a subsidiary of Transneft JSC. Oil Terminal Kozmino is the terminus of the Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean pipeline system (ESPO). The port was built for transshipment of crude oil delivered by pipeline and railway to sea-going oil tankers.
