Rotterdam Bunkers Congested Amid Stargate Terminal Maintenance: Sources
06.12.2018 - NEWS

June 12, 2018 [Platts] - The bunker market at Rotterdam has been experiencing some congestion amid maintenance at the port's Stargate terminal, according to sources.

The Stargate terminal is in maintenance so is out this month, meaning there is only one available terminal,” a supplier said Thursday.

This has focused traffic upon the Vopak terminal, sources said. “Vopak is pretty busy but product availability is fine,” a second supplier said.

The maintenance will last for the whole of June, the second supplier said. Stargate terminal officials were unavailable to comment. The Rotterdam port authority declined to comment. Gunvor Petroleum Rotterdam, which owns the terminal, was also unavailable to comment.

Bunker fuel prices at the port rose Thursday, supported in part by rising crude oil futures. S&P Global Platts assessed 380 CST fuel oil at the port at $426/mt delivered, an increase of $7/mt rise on the day.
