Temcor is working on a design for a second 110-foot diameter dome for a storage tank at the Vopak Savannah port facility.

Actual construction on the dome may start as early as mid-December. Vopak, headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands, recently purchased the Exxon Mobil distribution terminal in South Wilmington, N.C. The terminal, which has been operated by Vopak since 1991, is located on the east bank of the Cape Fear River and serves as a storage facility for oil and chemical products. Through this acquisition Vopak is able to expand its storage capacity in the port of Wilmington, which is an important location on the U. S. East Coast for the distribution of fuels. The terminal, which will be named Vopak Terminal Wilmington South, is Vopak’s second terminal in this port. It currently operates approximately 50,000 cubic meters (313,000 barrels) of storage capacity, which can be increased considerably in the future.

Royal Vopak is the world’s largest independent tank terminal operator specializing in the storage and handling of liquid and gaseous chemical and oil products. Vopak operates 79 terminals with a storage capacity of more than 26 million cbm in 31 countries. The terminals are strategically located for users and the major shipping routes.
