Ribost Terminals to Build Two New Storage Units at the Port of Long Beach
09.18.2024 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

September 18, 2024 [Maritime News]- Ribost Terminals has applied for a Harbor Development Permit to construct two new 25,000-barrel petroleum storage tanks and to connect these tanks to the existing infrastructure. The port of Long Beach has released an Environmental Impact Report greenlighting the project, stating that the new storage units will not impact the environment in any significant way.

The two new tanks will have a storage capacity of 25,000 barrels each and will feature internal floating roofs. The two new terminals are to be built at Pier C and will be connected to the existing utilities, such as pipelines, electrical lines, and truck loading racks.

The two new tanks are being built to replace two larger, underutilized tanks. After the new tanks become operational, they will be available for lease to third-party vendors for storage and blending of marine fuel, ensuring a seamless transition from the older tanks.

The port of Long Beach has made public an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) regarding the project. This EIR states that the project will not have a significant impact on the environment. According to the report, no new pipelines or loading tracks would be built, nor would there be a change in the volume of product being moved through the terminal. The report, along with public feedback, is set to be publicly reviewed on September 23. Written public comments on the project will be accepted until December 11 this year.
