Portugal OKs Galp’s Proposed $302M HVO and SAF Facility

July 24, 2023 [TheDigest] – In Portugal, Reuters reports that the Portuguese government has given Galp the go ahead to launch a hydrogenated vegetable oil and sustainable aviation fuel facility at its Sines refinery.

 

The $302 million investment will use used cooking oil as feedstock to produce 262,700 metric tons of HVO annually and 193,000 tons of SAF and other products. The company is currently building a green hydrogen production facility using electrolysis from renewable energy at the refinery that will be used to produce the HVO
