March 10, 2025 [SAF Investor]- US energy firm Phillips 66 has filed three notifications for proposed production of sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel, renewable naphtha and renewable gasoline at Linden, New Jersey, Old Ocean, Texas and Lake Charles, Louisiana sites with the Foreign-Trade Zones Board of the US Department of Commerce.
The FTZ said that public comment is invited from interested parties with closing period for the receipt being April 15, 2025.
“Pursuant to 15 CFR 400.14(b), FTZ production activity would be limited to the specific foreign-status materials and specific finished products described in the submitted notification (summarized below) and subsequently authorized by the board,” read the notice.
Earlier last year, Phillips 66 announced that it has completed full conversion of the Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex, increasing the output of renewable fuels to 50,000 barrels per day.
Announced in 2020, Rodeo Renewed is designed to produce renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), among other products. In addition to supplying California markets, the complex is providing renewable diesel in other areas along the West Coast.
Although the Rodeo site was scheduled to begin SAF production from last quarter of 2024, the company pushed the timeline to first quarter of 2025 owing to the delay in announcement of 45Z credits.
