03.30.2009 - NEWS
Oman Observer reported that Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Company LLC has held an official opening ceremony to celebrate the successful start up of its state of the art independent tank terminal located in the Port of Sohar. As per report, OOTO has put in place 836,200 cubic meters of facilities for the storage and handling of clean petroleum products and chemicals. By mid 2009 a remaining 6,300 cubic meters of spherical tanks will be completed, raising the total storage capacity to 842,500 cubic meters.

Part of OOTO’s capacity will be dedicated to the storage and handling of feedstock and produced product for a world scale aromatics plant located in the same port. The terminal’s infrastructure provides excellent flexibility to its customers, quick turnaround times for vessels and added capabilities such as truck loading, blending and injecting of additives.
OOTO’s tank terminal also has multiple pipeline connections to the local 116,000 barrels per day refinery. The terminal in Sohar is strategically located in the vicinity of major international shipping lanes just outside the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman. The geographical location is ideal for trade to the Western and Eastern global markets. OOTO continues to pursue various other projects with the aim of transforming Sohar into a major liquids hub in the region. OOTO is committed to its Omanisation program and has a well trained team to operate the facilities. Omanis represent the vast majority of the workforce of the company.
Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Company LLC is a JV of Oiltanking Odfjell Oman BV, Oman Oil Company and a private investment company.
