OILTANKING ODFJELL STARTS BULK LIQUID STORAGE

Muscat/Sohar, October 1, 2008. Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Co. LLC (OOTO) successfully started bulk liquid storage operations at its state-of-the-art tank terminal located in Sohar, Oman. OOTO has put 322,000 cbm into operation to cater for the storage and handling of clean petroleum products and chemicals. It is the first phase of the total 842,500 cbm facility, currently under construction.

Muscat/Sohar, October 1, 2008. Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Co. LLC (OOTO) successfully
started bulk liquid storage operations at its state-of-the-art tank terminal located in Sohar,
Oman. OOTO has put 322,000 cbm into operation to cater for the storage and handling of
clean petroleum products and chemicals. It is the first phase of the total 842,500 cbm
facility, currently under construction.
OOTO will commission an additional 216,500 cbm by the end of the year and another
304,000 cbm in the first and second quarter of 2009. Part of OOTO’s capacity will be
dedicated for the storage and handling of feedstock and produced product for a world-scale
aromatics plant located in the same port.
The terminal’s infrastructure provides excellent flexibility to its customers, quick turnaround
times for vessels and added capabilities such as truck loading, blending and injecting of
additives. OOTO’s tank terminal also has multiple pipeline connections to the local 116,000
bpd refinery. The terminal in Sohar is strategically located in the vicinity of major
international shipping lanes just outside the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman. The
geographical location is ideal for trade to the western and eastern global markets.
OOTO continues to pursue various other projects with the aim of transforming Sohar into a
major liquids hub in the region.
Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Co LLC is a joint venture of Oiltanking Odfjell Oman BV
(70%), Oman Oil Company (25%) and a private investment company (5%). In November
2004, Oiltanking Odfjell signed a contract for the operation of liquid berthing facilities and
the development of an independent bulk liquids storage terminal at the Sohar Industrial Port
in the Sultanate of Oman.
Oiltanking GmbH is a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls AG, Germany, a leading privately
owned petroleum company. Oiltanking is the second-largest independent tank storage
provider for petroleum products, chemicals and gases world-wide. The company owns and
operates 62 terminals in 20 countries within Europe, North and South America, Middle East,
India as well as Asia. Oiltanking has an overall capacity of 13 million cbm.
