June 20, 2014 [Platts] - Oiltanking Gmbh and Peru's Grana y Montero Petrolera won a bid round to operate five state oil storage terminals, state oil company Petroperu said Wednesday.
Oiltanking and its partner known as GMP won a 20-year contract for the Eten, Salaverry, Chimbote and Supe terminals on the north coast and the terminal at Lima’s port of Callao, Petroperu said in a statement. The companies committed to investing $223.2 million in the terminals.
No bids were fielded for Petroperu’s Pisco, Mollendo, Ilo, Cuzco and Juliaca oil terminals in southern Peru, the company said. Oiltanking and GMP’s contract for the five southern terminals expires in August.
Oiltanking and GMP, which also operates two oil fields on Peru’s north coast, are the country’s largest oil terminal operators. Grana y Montero, which sold $413 million in ADRs on the NYSE last year, produces 1,700 b/d crude and 6,000-Mcf/d of natural gas in Blocks 1 and 5 in the Talara Basin, according to state oil contracting agency Perupetro.
Petroperu last month signed a five-year contract with Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas Thursday for a $3.5 billion upgrade of its 62,000 b/d Talara oil refinery to 96,000 b/d. Petroperu operates four refineries with total capacity for 80,000 b/d.
Peruvian exports of crude oil and natural gas fell 6% to $435 million in April on declining gas prices and shipments, according to the central bank. Crude shipments rose to 3.7 million barrels from 3.3 million barrels a year ago, while natural gas shipments fell 25% to 608,800 cubic meters from 815,600 cubic meters a year earlier.
