Oiltanking GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, and The Dow Chemical Co, Midland MI, have concluded purchase agreements for Dow's Joliet IL and Cartagena, Colombia, marine terminals.

The Joliet terminal, servicing the Mid-Continent of North America, is located on the Illinois Waterway connecting the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River. It has 67 storage tanks with a total capacity of 44,600 cubic meters (280,000 barrels) and land for future expansion. The complex includes two docks for river barges and truck and rail car facilities.
The purchase of the Cartagena terminal will add another position to Oiltanking’s terminal network in Latin America and marks the company’s first terminal location in Colombia, according to Oiltanking information.
The Colombia facility has a total tank capacity of 9,300 cubic meters (58,500 barrels), a deep water jetty with 8.8 meter (29 ft) draft, and land for expansions. Located in the Mamonal Industrial area, center of the petrochemical and oil activities of Cartagena, the terminal is scheduled for expansion.
