03.06.2019 - NEWS

March 06, 2019 [Houston Business Journals] - Oiltanking North America LLC will move its headquarters from downtown Houston to Memorial City, according to a March 4 press release from MetroNational.

The company currently lists Three Allen Center, at 333 Clay St., as its regional office for North America. Information about its current square footage and number of employees based in that office was not immediately available.

Now, Oiltanking has leased 23,652 square feet in the Murphy Building, at 9805 Katy Freeway, for its new North American headquarters, per the release. Move-in is slated for early summer 2019.

MetroNational’s Brad MacDougall and Warren Alexander represented the landlord in the lease, while Andy Iversen, John Luck and Audrey Selber of Newmark Knight Frank represented Oiltanking.

Houston-based MetroNational owns and manages the Murphy Building, a 14-story, Class A, LEED Silver office building. Murphy Exploration & Production Co., a subsidiary of Arkansas-based Murphy Oil Corp. (NYSE: MUR), moved into the building in 2013. At the time, Murphy had 500 employees in that office occupying nine floors, or more than 200,000 of the 320,000 total square feet.

Germany-based Oiltanking GmbH is one of the world’s largest independent operators of tank terminals for oils, chemicals and gases, according to its website. It also works on engineering, procurement and construction of tank terminals, pipelines, refineries and power plants. About 3,400 employees worked for the global company in 2017, per Oiltanking’s website. In the Houston area, the company also has two terminals in Texas City.
