January 30, 2025 [SAF Investor]- Norwegian power-to-liquid sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) developer Norsk e-Fuel announced investment from German asset management firm specialising in energy infrastructure Prime Capital AG to advance its project pipeline to deliver SAF to its customer airlines.
German consulting firm Capcora served as the M&A advisor to Norsk e-Fuel for this transaction.
The independent asset manager and energy infrastructure investor Prime Capital, through its managed funds, joins the shareholder group at Norsk e-Fuel.
“Norsk e-Fuel is supported by strong shareholders enabling the company to become one of the leading e-Fuel players in the Nordics. We are very pleased to partner with Norsk e-Fuel and its existing strategic and financial shareholders and to combine their strengths with ours in order to reliably deliver synthetic sustainable aviation fuel to offtakers before 2030,” says Jens Walzner, managing director at Prime Capital.
Prime Capital has exposure in various companies in the energy transition space. The fund has invested in onshore wind, solar, and hydro, alongside PtL projects.
With its investment in Norsk e-Fuel, the fund will facilitate production of nearly 200,000 tons of e-SAF to be delivered in the EU market.
“This partnership represents a significant milestone not only for our company but also for the advancement of the e-Fuel industry,” stated Karl Hauptmeier, CEO of Norsk e-Fuel.
“The investment enables us to accelerate the development of our projects, while profiting from Prime Capital’s impressive track-record and experience in renewable investing, financing and project realization. We are honored to have the confidence in our company and our capabilities as a project developer from a leading partner like Prime Capital.”
Norsk e-Fuel is currently developing three e-fuel projects – scheduled to be operational by 2032.
The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
The funds invested by Prime Capital benefit from support from the European Union under the InvestEU Fund.
Earlier this week, Global aerospace company Boeing also announced investment in Norwegian power-to-liquid e-fuel producer Norsk e-Fuel to accelerate the production and availability of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the Nordics and globally.
