February 11, 2013 [OPIS] - Several precautionary terminal shutdowns have already begun popping up across the Northeast as the region prepares for the ravages of Winter Storm Nemo.
ExxonMobil has announced the imminent shutdown of their Springfield and Everett, Mass. terminals due to anticipated operations concerns in light of the storm. Both terminals are set to close at 12:00pm today and will reopen at noon tomorrow.
Magellan Pipeline also issued a statement announcing their intentions to keep New Haven, Conn. Terminals online throughout the duration of the storm, but they have stipulated they will limit operations in the event of severe weather.
If high winds and snow accumulation become hazardous, the terminals may be temporarily closed until safe conditions can be reestablished.
In the meantime, those looking to lift fuel will need to plan for alternate supply points in light of shutdowns and further closings.
