New Dock for LNG Transshipment in Rotterdam
09.03.2015 - NEWS

September 3, 2015 [De Telegraaf/TankTerminals.com] - The Port of Rotterdam will have a new dock for LNG transshipment.

The basin will have a length of 255 meters, a width of 150 meters and a depth of 7.50 meters for the time being.

The new dock will be named Yukonhaven, the Port Authority reported Monday.

Hakkers Van Oord, a consortium of contractors, has started this year with the implementation. Next year the Gate terminal will open in the new harbor basin its new LNG Breakbulk terminal. It will then be possible to load small amounts of liquefied natural gas to bunker ships and small LNG tankers. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of the first half of 2016.

The arrival of the LNG Breakbulk terminal fits well with the policy of the Port Authority. It aims to promote the transition from fuel oil to LNG as fuel for shipping.
