04.17.2024 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

April 17, 2024 [Gas Compression Magazine]- Neuman & Esser was awarded a contract from Empresa Nacional del Petroleo (Enap) for the installation, construction, and operation of a green hydrogen plant in Chile. The order includes a 1 MW NEA HYTRON PEM electrolyzer, compression, hydrogen storage, hydrogen dispensing for heavy vehicle fuel, and a detailed training plan for Enap’s employees. The plant will be located at the Cabo Negro complex in Chile’s Magallanes region and will be powered by the Vientos Patagonicos wind farm, which is majority-owned by Enap.

Scheduled to begin operation in 2025, the plant is part of Enap’s plan to increase the production and use of hydrogen as part of its strategy to develop new fuels in the Magallanes region. “Enap will be the first company to produce green hydrogen as a final product in Magallanes, and it is an important step in the objective that we have set for ourselves to be the most relevant actor to accelerate the energy transition in our country through the continuous development of better fuels,” said Enap CEO Julio Friedmann.
