May 21, 2012 [OPIS] - Marquis Energy said on Friday that it will begin transferring unit trains of crude oil from the Bakken Shale Reserve to barges on the Illinois River from June 1.

A newly constructed terminal at Marquis Marine near Hennepin, Ill., will have a transfer capacity of more than 250,000 bbl of crude oil per week and storage tank capacity of 90,000 bbl.

Marquis also confirmed the start of construction of a tank storage terminal and barge loading facility at Hayti, Missouri.

The new facility is expected to begin operation by Sept. 15.

The new terminal is located on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad and the Mississippi River.

The terminal will bring Bakken crude oil from Canada and North Dakota for transfer to river barges, ultimately delivering oil to refineries on the U.S. Gulf coast and the U.S. inland river system.

Marquis-Missouri Terminal, LLC is expected to handle more than 300,000 bbl of oil per week, and provide storage tank capacity of 390,000 bbl.

Jason Marquis, President of Marquis Management Services, Inc., said his management team will operate both facilities, and Tom Marquis will lead the marketing and risk management groups.

Marquis further reported that his family purchased the remaining outstanding interests in the Marquis Energy-Wisconsin ethanol plant in Necedah, Wis., and has increased the plant production to 75 million gal/year.

Over the past year, Marquis expanded or developed new projects in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Missouri and Illinois.
