Kinder Morgan Seeks In-Service for Two Louisiana Pipeline Meters

November 26, 2018 [Natural Gas Intel] - A subsidiary of Houston-based Kinder Morgan Inc. has asked federal authorities to approve start up by the end of the month for two more components of the Sabine Pass expansion project.

In a filing Monday with FERC, Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline (KMLP) asked for permission to bring online in Louisiana by Nov. 30 the bidirectional Columbia Gulf Transmission LLC (CGT) Meter Station in Evangeline Parish and the bi-directional Texas Gas Transmission LLC (TGT) Meter Station in Acadia Parish.

Placing these meter stations in service would allow the pipeline to provide interruptible transportation service from these points prior to the remaining project facilities being placed in service, KMLP said.

Restoration activities at the CGT Meter are 40% complete, with TGT Meter restoration 25% complete, it told the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. All restoration activities, including painting the above ground facilities and installing rock pads, are to be completed by the in-service date.

Work on the remaining project facilities, including Compressor Station 760, the high and low pressure headers and the ANR Pipeline Company Meter Station is ongoing, and KMLP expects to file a request to place these remaining facilities in service “in the near future.” The exact timing of filing the request depends on remaining construction and restoration activities that were delayed by recent heavy rain, the company said.

KMLP on Nov. 1 placed into service the Sabine Pass Liquefaction LLC (SPL) Lateral and SPL Tap.

The 135-mile 2.2 Bcf/d KMLP system consists of two pipelines that originate at Cheniere Energy Inc.’s Sabine Pass LNG Terminal in Cameron Parish, LA. One pipeline terminates at Columbia Gulf Transmission Co. in Evangeline Parish, and the second interconnects with Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (NGPL) and continues on NGPL through leased capacity to two delivery interconnects near Johnson Bayou, LA.
