April 12, 2024 [Indian Chemical News]- Kent, in an alliance with Taylor Woodrow and BGen, is helping to deliver construction, completion, and commissioning of a new Diesel Hydrotreater and a Steam Methane Reforming Hydrogen Plant.

Kent, a leading global engineering and project management company, is proud to announce its significant involvement in ExxonMobil’s £800m investment in its Fawley Petrochemical complex. Involvement in the project, scheduled for completion next year, represents a key project for Kent and its partners in the alliance—Taylor Woodrow and BGEN.

The project was awarded to the alliance in March 2022 with Kent’s responsibilities include project management, engineering and procurement, module fabrication and logistics, as well as completions and commissioning. The seamless coordination and execution between ExxonMobil and Kent and its partners underline their commitment to excellence in every aspect of the project.

In addition to the construction, completion, and commissioning of a new Diesel Hydrotreater and a Steam Methane Reforming Hydrogen Plant, the alliance will also execute associated foundations, equipment, pipework, electrical, and instrumentation.

Iain Eddie, Kent’s EVP Operations for EMEA, expressed his enthusiasm and pride in Kent’s role in the project. In a statement, he said, “This project showcases the strength of collaboration and the depth of expertise within our alliance with Taylor Woodrow and BGEN. We are honoured to contribute to this important investment by ExxonMobil, which not only aligns with the UK’s energy resilience goals but also underscores Kent’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions on a global scale.”

The primary objective of this ambitious project is to enable the production of low-sulphur diesel in compliance with the 2025 Euro 7 emissions standards. The upgrade is anticipated to increase production by an impressive 40% at Fawley, and reducing imports to the UK by around 25%.
