Iran’s New Oil Export Hub Becomes Operational

June 23, 2016 [MEHR News Agency] - Farasakou Port, a new hub for exporting Iranian oil products, was put into operation in Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ).


According to the public relations office of Iran’s PSEEZ, the first export shipment of petroleum products to Persian Gulf littoral states was loaded on Saturday morning at Farasakou harbor in Assaluyeh.

Farasakou Port in the south of Iran and has become operational in an area covering 50 hectares and with a loading capacity of 11 million tons per year offering excellent services for storage, transit, export, regional fuel distribution and bunkering because the company’s oil terminal is situated in hinterland and its facilities and infrastructures are unique.

Enjoying several advantages including suitable land, breakwaters, stilling basin and strategic location, Farasakou Port marks the country’s third pole in the field of exporting petroleum products.

So far, two berths of the port have been constructed one with a depth of 10 meters and length of 214 meters while the other one marks Iran’s largest petroleum berth being 15 meters deep and 324 meters long.

Since the completion of its first development phase which meant using storage tanks, port facilities and installations in this locality, the port has gained a high loading capacity.

The structure would be the biggest port of petroleum products in private sector as soon as the second development phase will have completed.
