Independent Feasibility Study for SAF Refinery Completed for Fathopes Energy

February 06, 2026 [Biofuels International]- FatHopes Energy has announced the completion of the feasibility study of their integrated sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) refinery project, conducted by FGE NexantECA.

With this milestone achieved, the project is now ready to advance to its next phase and deliver another strategic sustainability focus asset for Malaysia.
“Securing the SAF pathway landscape and ensuring that the world’s first integrated SAF refinery is ready to operate in full compliance with regulations and standards — particularly with regard to end‐to‐end feedstock traceability — is critically important. Therefore, the role of FGE NexantECA is essential in validating that the overall SAF ecosystem can be met prior to the development of the refinery,” said Vinesh Sinha, CEO of FatHopes Energy.
FGE NexantECA has been working with FatHopes Energy since 2025 to conduct a feasibility study designed to establish a robust comparative assessment of major SAF production sites around the world, with this project emerging as one of the most competitive globally.
The scope of work encompasses detailed evaluations of technology readiness levels, pathway‐specific cost structures, lifecycle emissions‐reduction potential, and the regulatory and policy frameworks that influence project viability and deployment strategies.
Through this feasibility study, FGE NexantECA delivers a rigorous, data‐driven analysis of the global SAF market structure and its evolving demand dynamics.
The resulting insights enable FatHopes Energy and Bin Zayed Group International (BZI) to undertake evidence‐based strategic planning, strengthen risk‐mitigation frameworks, and position themselves to capitalise on emerging opportunities across the SAF value chain.
“It’s time to act, delaying action compromises the viability of future decarbonisation needs. This refinery is not being developed solely for FatHopes Energy—it is an infrastructure asset intended to serve the wider community and contribute meaningfully to long‐term climate mitigation.
“With greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations continuing to rise at an accelerating rate, the window for effective intervention is narrowing rapidly,” added Sinha.
FatHopes Energy began with a vision to transform the aviation sector through a circular‐economy model anchored in community participation.
