Halcon Field Services to Build Crude Storage, Rail-Loading Terminal in Ohio

July 29, 2013 [OPIS] - Halcon Field Services (HFS), a subsidiary of Halcon Resources corporation, is proposing to build a 540,000-bbl capacity oil storage and rail-loading terminal at the Ohio Commerce Center (OCC) industrial rail park in Lordstown, Ohio, a Halcon Resources spokeswoman told OPIS on Friday.

The $50-$60 million facility will make it possible for Halcon and other operators to ship the oil they are producing to markets outside the production area for sale.

OCC is a 516 acre mixed use industrial site that already houses warehouse and distribution operations for several companies. This will be a three phase project, with the first phase expected to go into service by end of 2013.

The spokeswoman said that the terminal project was supported by stronger prices and demand for crude on the East Coast and the Gulf Coast. “These refineries have the ability to work with lighter crudes,” she added.

The Ohio terminal project will include four bay truck racks, 20 rail car loading platform, three stabilizers and six storage tanks of 90,000 bbl each.
