GrainCorp Opens Expanded Operations in Port Kembla, Australia
03.03.2015 - NEWS

March 3, 2015 [GrainCorp Ltd.] - GrainCorp is pleased to announce the opening of its new $20 million GrainCorp Liquid Terminals facility at Port Kembla today.

The new facility will predominantly service customers in the chemicals sector and consists of 10 liquid storage tanks with a combined storage capacity of 12,500 cubic metres.

“The speed at which we have been able to deliver this project is a testament to everyone involved,” GrainCorp Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Mark Palmquist said.

“It’s only been about 380 days, or just over one year, from the time we announced this investment to commissioning the facility today. This rapid delivery would not have been possible without the strong commitment of our customers, the efficient approach taken by Wollongong City Council and the Port Authority of NSW as well as NSW Ports and, of course, the hard work and commitment to safety of our local team and construction workers.

“The GrainCorp team is really pleased to be able to build on our commitment to the Port Kembla community in this way and we’re also happy to have supported local industry through this project, as all the 10 tanks were manufactured in Australia from Port Kembla-made steel,” Mr Palmquist said.

Approximately 30 construction jobs were created during the construction phase of the project. The ongoing operations of the liquid terminal will be managed by GrainCorp’s existing grain terminal staff.
