November 30, 2010 [Bloomberg] - Nederlandse Gasunie NV said the Gate liquefied natural gas terminal under construction in Rotterdam will be ready in September.

“The terminal will be ready by September 2011,” Ulco Vermeulen, Gasunie’s director of business development, said today at the World LNG Summit in Barcelona. “So far we are on time, on quality and on budget.”

Royal Vopak NV is building the terminal with Gasunie, the Dutch state-owned gas distribution company. Gate stands for Gas Access to Europe.

The facility will have three 180,000 cubic meter storage tanks, one jetty and capacity for 12 billion cubic meters of gas a year. The terminal’s throughput capacity may be increased to 16 billion cubic meters.

E.ON Ruhrgas AG, Dong Energy A/S, EconGas GmbH and RWE AG all have import rights at Gate.
