November 06, 2024 [Storage Terminals Magazine]- Fuella has officially signed an agreement with the Port of Pecem (Complexo do Pecem) to establish a large-scale green ammonia production plant in Pecem, Ceara, Brazil. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually, leveraging Ceara’s ample renewable energy resources.
The state of Ceara offers ideal conditions for green hydrogen and its derivatives, with abundant solar, wind, and hydro power. The Port of Pecem, a partner to the Port of Rotterdam, provides crucial infrastructure such as export terminals and various industrial synergies, which Fuella aims to leverage to maximise operational efficiency and integration with local industries.
Fuella representatives recently joined Ceara’s Governor, Elmano de Freitas, to celebrate the agreement and discuss the project’s transformative potential. Fuella’s Thorsten Helms commented, “We are very happy and proud to secure this project in the Port of Pecem. This location is among the world’s best for green hydrogen and ammonia production. We thank the Port of Pecem, the State of Ceara, and the Port of Rotterdam for their trust in us.”
This project marks Fuella’s second green ammonia initiative in Brazil, aligning with the company’s mission to establish robust green hydrogen and ammonia supply chains. By connecting prime production sites to key demand centres worldwide, Fuella continues to advance sustainable energy solutions and support the global energy transition.
