Finland’s Hamina LNG Offers Terminal Capacity for Next Gas Year
08.19.2023 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

August 19, 2023 [LNG Prime]- Finland’s Hamina LNG is offering terminal capacity and related services to the market for the gas year which starts in October.

The LNG terminal operator is a joint venture consisting of Finland’s Hamina Energy, tech firm Wartsila, and Estonia’s energy company Alexela.

Hamina LNG provides storage services from one 30,000-cbm LNG tank as well as regasification and injection services into the Finnish gas transmission network with a daily capacity of 6,000 MWh.

Other services include LNG truck loading, vessel unloading and loading, and vessel bunkering.

Hamina LNG launched commercial operations in October last year and is now inviting firms to take part in its annual capacity allocation procedure for the gas year 2024 (01.10.2023–30.09.2024), it said in a statement.

According to the LNG terminal operator, it is offering in total 300 slots for storage service, where a slot equals to 650 MWh of LNG, and 6000 slots for regasification service, where a slot equals to one MWh of gas per day.

Within the open season, market participants may also apply for the storage and the regasification services for the gas years 2025-2027, it said.

The procedure begins on August 17 and the applicants must submit binding applications by September 7, Hamina LNG said.

Besides this small facility, Finland’s Gasgrid also launched the FSRU-based terminal in Inkoo earlier this year.

Excelerate Energy’s FSRU serves this facility under a 10-year charter deal the US firm has with Gasgrid.

Estonia’s Eesti Gas received in April the first liquefied natural gas cargo via Finland’s FSRU-based LNG terminal in the port of Inkoo.

Eesti Gas recently said it has received in total eight shipments at the facility this year and plans to receive three more by the end of the year.
