ExxonMobil Announces Group III Base Oil Expansion in US
08.27.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

August 27, 2025 [Argus Media]- ExxonMobil is expanding Group III base oil production at its Baytown, Texas, refinery by 8,000 b/d, and said it will market 4cst and 6cst grades to the North American market.

Several market participants expected that ExxonMobil had Group III capacity at Baytown, likely for internal consumption for its own finished lubricant blending operations.

ExxonMobil also makes Group II and Group II+ grades at Baytown and Group I base oils at Baton Rogue, Louisiana.

The company said that the Group III production at Baytown makes it the only base oil producer to be able to supply Group I-V base oils.
