July 29, 2023 [Lloyd’s List]- The European Commission has signed off on a cash subsidy for a German onshore LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel. It is expected to start operations in 2026.

Germany plans to build three onshore LNG terminals by 2028 to increase its import capacity, after bringing three floating storage and regasification units into operation this year in an attempt to diversify gas supplies. It needs to replace Russian pipeline deliveries that have been axed owing to the situation in Ukraine.
