May 28, 2024 [Nova News]- Maire informs that Tecnimont (Integrated E&C Solutions) has received communication from Fertiglobe to proceed with the construction activities relating to the low carbon intensity ammonia plant, already being implemented in the Ta’ziz Derivatives Park, in Ruwais ( Abu Dhabi, Emirates). Fertiglobe, the largest producer of nitrogen fertilizers in the Middle East and North Africa, is developing – a note reports – a low carbon intensity ammonia plant with partners: Ta’ziz (a joint venture between Adnoc and the sovereign wealth fund of Abu Dhabi Adq), Mitsui & Co. Ltd and Gs Energy Corporation.
Once operational in 2027, the 10.8 hectare ammonia plant will produce 3.000 tonnes per day (about 1 million tonnes per year) of ammonia. The plant is one of the global-scale chemical and industrial plants that Ta’ziz is developing in the area which will enhance the supply chain of local industry and improve local content requirements in the country.
As a fuel for the energy transition, low-carbon ammonia plays a strategic role in the decarbonisation of the maritime industry, as well as having further energy applications, including co-firing in coal-fired power plants to reduce carbon footprint. Alessandro Bernini, CEO of the Maire group, commented: “We are extremely satisfied to have been confirmed as privileged partners for the ambitious development projects in the region. Low-carbon ammonia represents a step forward in the Emirates’ decarbonization plans; our technological know-how and engineering capabilities will help accelerate the energy transition in the Gulf area.”
