Elyse Energy & Tepsa To Develop Storage at Salaise-sur-Sanne Site
12.03.2025 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

December 03, 2025 [Tank Storage Magazine]- As part of the eM-Rhone project, which aims to produce e-methanol for the chemical industry and maritime transport, Elyse Energy and Tepsa France are joining forces to build and operate storage capacity at Tepsa’s Salaise-sur-Sanne site.

The announcement follows the completion of a €70 million financing package to accelerate two of its flagship projects: eM-Rhone in Isere and BioTJet (E-CHO) in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques.

The financing was arranged with four leading French banks — Societe Generale (also acting as financial advisor), Bpifrance, Arkea Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels, and Caisse d’Epargne CEPAC. The operation benefits from the support of Bpifrance Assurance Export, a subsidiary of Bpifrance acting on behalf of and under the supervision of the French State, through the Strategic Projects Guarantee (GPS).

This guarantee supports the financing of projects deemed strategically important for the French economy, both domestically and internationally. It aims to foster reindustrialization and strengthen France’s sovereignty in emerging sustainable industries. The approval of this first GPS for Elyse Energy underscores the State’s renewed commitment to building a competitive, sovereign French sector for sustainable fuel production.

With this latest operation, Elyse Energy’s total project financing in France now reaches €328 million.

The newly secured €70 million will fund Elyse Energy’s two most advanced initiatives:

  • eM-Rhone — a project dedicated to producing e-methanol for the maritime transport and industrial sectors, located at the Roches-Roussillon chemical platform in Isere.
  • BioTJet — a project focused on producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the Lacq basin (Pyrenees-Atlantiques), developed in partnership with Axens, IFP Energies nouvelles, and the Avril Group.

Both initiatives are key components of France’s strategy to promote low-carbon fuels and accelerate the decarbonisation of the aviation, maritime, and industrial sectors.
