Construction of Zulfikarabad Oil Terminal to Be Completed in Time

October 30, 2012 [Business Recorder] - Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that the construction of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal was an important project of Karachi which would be completed in estimated time.


Phase-I of this Terminal was being completed with a cost of Rs313million from which Rs156.77million (50 percent) was being provided by government of Sindh, Rs47.03million (15 percent) by KMC, Rs62.71million (20 percent) by Oil Marketing Companies, Rs31.35million (10 percent) by Oil Tankers besides petroleum products and Rs15.68million (5 percent) by Federal Ministry of Petroleum whereas the funds of Rs700million for the construction of Phase-II will be required for which government of Sindh will be asked. 

He said this while inspecting the construction works of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal. On this occasion Director Technical Services Altaf G. Memon and other officers were present. 

He said that the construction of oil tankers terminal was an old demand of citizens which was being carried out after which will improve the traffic flow on city roads. He said that the speed of construction work was satisfactory and this project would be completed in estimated time and it was a combined project which was being completed with the cooperation of government of Pakistan, government of Sindh, KMC and oil companies. 

The construction of this terminal would solve the problems such environmental pollution and specially a huge quantity of oil tankers parking nearby sea. He also said all required infra structure would be provided for more than 10,000 people who include offices, petrol pumps, tyre puncture shops, generators, bath rooms and parking facilities. 

This was a permanent solution to finish oil tankers parking from area of the city.

Director General Technical Services on this occasion while giving a briefing informed after the completion of oil terminal it would possible to park 2375 oil tankers at a time.
