January 16, 2025 [Hydrogen Central]- China’s CPECC Expresses Will to Invest in Algeria’s Clean Energy Sector, Particularly Green Hydrogen.

ALGIERS – Noureddine Yassaa, Secretary of State to the Algerian Ministry of Energy responsible for Renewable Energy, met with He Hong San, Executive Vice President of the China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC).

During their meeting, He expressed the Chinese company’s interest in investing in Algeria, particularly in the clean energy sector, with a focus on green hydrogen.

The Algerian Ministry of Energy highlighted that CPECC’s commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions aligns with the country’s strategic goals to diversify its energy sources and reduce its carbon footprint.

The discussions centered on potential projects that could leverage Algeria’s renewable energy resources, such as solar and wind, to produce green hydrogen, which has become an emerging and promising energy source globally.

Both parties acknowledged the growing importance of international cooperation in the energy sector and emphasized the need for strengthening Algeria-China relations in this domain.

The ministry’s communique also mentioned that the Algerian government remains open to attracting foreign investments that contribute to the nation’s transition toward greener energy solutions, especially as the country seeks to position itself as a leader in renewable energy production in North Africa.

This move by CPECC underscores the growing global interest in Algeria’s clean energy market and its potential to become a key player in the green hydrogen sector. The discussions reflect Algeria’s broader efforts to tap into the growing market for clean and renewable energy and to build stronger partnerships with international stakeholders in this field.
