November 18, 2023 [Weekly Citizen]- CF Industries, which operates the world’s largest ammonia production facility in Donaldsonville, announced the expiration of the waiting period connected to an agreement to purchase an ammonia production complex in Waggaman.

According to a news release, the waiting period was under the 1976 Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.

As previously announced, the company reached an agreement to buy Incitec Pivot Limited’s Waggaman complex.

The expiration of the period was a condition to the closing of the pending transaction, per the release.

The deal, related to $1.675 billion in assets, was expected to be completed effective Dec. 1, according to the announcement.

The companies will allocate about $425 million of the price to an ammonia offtake agreement under which CF Industries will supply up to 200,000 tons of ammonia annually to IPL’s Dyno Nobel subsidiary.

The remaining $1.25 billion of the purchase is expected to be funded with cash on hand.

CF Industries’ Donaldsonville complex is located on 1,400 acres along the west bank of the Mississippi River in southeastern Louisiana.
