August 14, 2023 [TheDigest] – In Spain, Cepsa said it will supply second-generation biofuels to Spanish firm Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea.
In August, Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea ferries will make 84 trips across the Strait of Gibraltar using Cepsa’s second-generation biofuels.
The biofuel is produced at Cepsa’s San Roque Energy Park, in Cadiz, from agricultural waste. The nearly 100 tons of renewable diesel to be supplied will avoid 63 tons of CO2 emissions, Cepsa said.
Cepsa noted that second-generation biofuels can be used in ships without engine modifications and have high potential for reducing CO2 emissions compared to conventional fossil fuels.
