September 30, 2025 [Tank Storage Magazine]- Cattalini Terminals Maritimos expanded the draft of the external berth of its private pier, going from 13.10 to 13.30 meters. With the 20-centimeter increment, the company raises the feasibility of receiving LR1 class ships, which have a higher volume of payload, and potential handling gain of approximately 1,500 tonnes of liquid bulk per ship.

For the director operational and commercial of the company, Lucas Guzen, the investments made in the Cattalini’s pier, for its modernization and safety, reinforce the commitment of the company in offering more efficient and competitive operations. Guzen says: ‘Our improvement projects consolidate Cattalini as a strategic partner of our customers and reinforce our role in the growth of the Port of Paranaguá as a global reference. It is a An important step that combines innovation, safety and competitiveness, ensuring more agile and reliable operations for all our partners.’

The formalisation of the increase in operational draft occurred recently, through Ordinance No. 188/2025/APPA, which approves the increase in the operational draft of the Navigation Channel, Navigation Basin, Evolution, Commercial dock berths and external dock berth Cattalini. The document has the consent of the Maritime and Port Authorities and the Pilotage of Paranaguá, attesting to the safety conditions of the maneuvers of the Ships. The draft measurement refers to the distance between the waterline and the keel, that is, the lowest part of the ship that is submerged.

The pier’s outdoor berth Cattalini has the capacity to receive ships up to 229 meters in length and 70 thousand DWT (Deadweight Tonnage, in Portuguese, Tonnage de Porte Gross) which represents the sum of all the weights that a ship can carry in a safe manner. The inner berth has a draft of 12.5 meters and is prepared to receive ships up to 190 meters in length and 50 thousand DWT.
