Grupo Dislub Equador inaugurated the 50,000-cubic-meter Itacoatiara Refined Petroleum Terminal in the Amazonas state, with a total investment value of $75 million. The terminal was constructed by Construtora Carrilho (Recife, Brazil) in March 2013.

It has two expansion projects scheduled for 2014 and 2015. In 2014, Grupo Dislub plans to invest $30 million to increase its terminal capacity by 60,000 cubic meters, and in 2015 it plans to invest $20 million in a 40,000-cubic-meter expansion.

Separately, Petrobras will inaugurate the Cruzeiro do Sul refined products terminal, which will have a 26,000-cubic-meter storage capacity, in the state of Acre in February 2014.

This project requires an investment of $55 million and is being built through an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by UTC Engenharia (Sao Paulo, Brazil).

The Amazon region in northern Brazil currently has six large storage terminals in the states of Amapa (Macapa Terminal), Amazonas (Manaus, Coari and Itacoatiara Terminals), Para (Belem Terminal) and Rondonia (Terminal Porto Velho).

The total combined storage capacity of these six facilities is 180,000 cubic meters; when the Cruzeiro do Sul and Itacoatiara projects are finished, it will increase by 126,000 cubic meters.

The main objective of these projects is to reduce transport costs and ensure the provision of petroleum fuels in the Amazonas region.
