04.27.2026 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

April 27, 2026 [Tank Storage Magazine]- Turkey’s BOTAS is building a new tank farm at Ceyhan port to expand crude oil storage capacity from 1 million to 45 million barrels.

Speaking at the Regulation and Competition in Energy Markets Summit in Antalya, general manager Abdulvahit Fidan described the project as a ‘strategic turning point’ for Turkey’s energy security. ‘This project will strengthen Turkiye’s resilience against energy crises and enable the country to play a more decisive role in regional energy markets,’ Fidan said.

The project includes the construction of 40 new crude oil storage tanks, starting with six being built in 2026. The first phase is scheduled for completion by 2028, and full completion planned for 2030-2031.
