July 6, 2016 [Black Sea Terminal LLC] - The project envisioned the construction of six storage tanks with a total storage capacity of 60,000 cubic meters and includes a two-sided railway trestle for the simultaneous offloading and loading of 26 rail tank cars.

The tanks will be used for various petroleum products. Modern methods and special paint products have been used for anti-corrosion protection. The internal surface of the tanks has been prepared according to the ST3 standard (ISO 8501-1). This standard includes a very thorough hand and power tool cleaning of the surface. After surface preparation, the surface is then degreased, and cleared of all dust. This process was carries out under the surveillance of certified inspectors. They used a two-component universal epoxy paint, which offers good resistance to abrasion, seawater and various oils. During the paint application, the conditions inside the tank were constantly monitored.

A multi-coat system was used for the external surface of the tanks: The first coat included two-component polyamide adducts cured, high solids, high build epoxy paint and two-component, glossy acrylic polyurethane coating, cured with aliphatic isocyanate, with good gloss and color retention for the second coat. This applied scheme of anti-corrosive protection complies with modern international standards.

The construction of this facility for the receipt, storage and loading of various oil products like gasoline, naphtha, hydrocarbon condensate, diesel fuel and aviation kerosene, is intended for export, as well as the import of oil product to and from the Caspian Sea region. The facility’s turnover of oil and oil products are estimated to be 1,500,000 metric tons per year.
