March 06, 2018 [S&P Global] - Bangladesh's state-owned Rupantarita Prakritik Gas has shortlisted seven companies to build a 7.5 million mt/year floating LNG terminal off Payra in Patuakhali district, Bangladesh's fourth and largest floating LNG import facility.

We are expecting to sign an agreement in the first half of 2018, and commercial operations to start in June 2019,” RPGCL managing director Md Quamruzzaman said.

The companies are BP, Excelerate Energy, Mitsui OSK Lines , PT Pertamina, Samsung C&T and a joint venture between Posco Daewoo and Kogas and a consortium of Summit Corporation, Summit Oil Shipping and Hoegh LNG.

RPGCL will issue a request for proposal to the shortlisted companies soon, Quamruzzaman said. The floating, storage and regasification unit should have a storage capacity of 260,000 cu m and regasification capacity of 1 Bcf/d.

RPGCL issued an international tender on December 8 for an initial project of 5.5 million mt/year, but amended it later in December to 7.5 mt/year and increased the tenure of the contract by 10 years to 25 years.
