Australia's Woodside Energy Assumes Control of Beaumont Ammonia Facility in Texas
03.26.2026 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

March 26, 2026 [Reuters]- Australian oil and gas producer Woodside Energy said on Thursday it ‌assumed operational control of the Beaumont New Ammonia facility in Texas following the completion of performance testing and handover from OCI Global.

The facility has capacity to produce and export up to 1.1 million tonnes of ammonia per annum, adding to the company’s portfolio as it expands into new energy products, it said.

Woodside said ammonia production at the plant began in December, while production of lower-carbon ammonia is now expected after 2026 due ‌to construction issues at a third-party feedstock supply facility.

The project is part of Woodside’s push into lower-carbon services and the broader ammonia market, with the company advancing offtake agreements tied to the facility’s output.

Woodside acquired the asset in September 2024 through the purchase of OCI Global’s clean ammonia project.

The company added it secured offtake agreements at prevailing market prices and was progressing additional sales agreements in line with expected production.
