September 19, 2024 [Manufacturing Today India]- AMG and RWE Supply & Trading have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the long-term supply of green ammonia from AMG’s Indian plants. It explains how the firm can deliver up to 250000 tonnes of green ammonia per year. The ammonia will be sourced from AMG’S manufacturing facilities at Kakinada and Tuticorin, in India. About 200,000 tonnes of the green ammonia required for the purpose will be produced from the Tuticorin complex and 50,000 tonnes from the Kakinada region’s unit.
The ammonia that is generated will satisfy the Renewable Energy Directive’s (RED III) requirements for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO). The Kakinada location of AMG has already received pre-certification for RFNBO compliance. For additional facilities, pre-certification is underway.
Deliveries of green ammonia from AMG installations are planned to begin in 2027. The specific terms of the transaction will be outlined in an upcoming offtake agreement between RWE and AMG.
RWE is dedicated to investing in hydrogen and its low-carbon derivatives to support sectors in meeting their climate targets, according to Costas Papamantellos, Head of International Hydrogen Investments at RWE Supply & Trading.
The arrangement highlights AM Green’s capacity to align with a creative and adaptable contracting structure in line with commodities trading standards, stated Mahesh Kolli, Group President of AM Green.
