AEGIS's Starts Building Tank Terminal at Pipavav Port, India

February 14, 2013 [AEGIS] - Aegis Group, a Leader in Oil, Gas and Chemical Logistics today initiated into a major project at Pipavav Port, Gujarat for setting up a bulk liquid and gas storage terminal.


The project contains additional capacity of 120,000 KL of bulk liquid and 2700 MT of Gas. The ground breaking of the project has been completed today (February 12, 2013) and project activities started. Company has obtained the requisite approvals for setting up the project.

The AEGIS Pipapav terminal project shall be a step towards company’s strategy of building a necklace of port terminals around India’s coast line from Pipavav to Haldia to Kochi, inland oil terminals on a “build, own, operate” basis to service the national oil companies and developing a retail distribution network for the LPG business.

The salient features of the project are:

  • This will be the first liquid terminal at Pipavav port where a new berth for liquid cargo has already been built by the port.
  • The Port is well connected through road and rail networks to the cargo hinterland in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi NCR and Punjab.
  • The Pipavav Port is being operated by AP Moller Maersk Group, having strategic location in the gulf of Khambat, 152 nautical miles north of Mumbai as well as being all weather port with 24X7 operations and modern environment friendly infrastructure facilities.
Currently, Aegis Group handling liquid volumes of over 2 million MT and gas volumes of over 600,000 MT. With additional capacity, Aegis will be able to capitalize the increased demand for 3PL facilities by the Oil and Gas Sector. 

The project will augment the ability of Aegis to offer its customers a comprehensive portfolio of facilities for a large variety of cargoes at different ports.
