£63m Available for SAF Producers UK’s DfT

January 30, 2025 [Reuters]- UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) announced that it will make £63m available for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) producers in the country.

“We’re providing £63m of funding to help the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the UK,” said the department in a statement on their LinkedIn page.

It added that potential SAF producers will be able to apply for funding through a one-year extension to the Advanced Fuels Fund. The funding will help to support the creation of jobs and provide a supply of SAF for UK airlines, helping to tackle the carbon and environmental impacts from aviation.

This investment follows the SAF mandate having recently come into force earlier this month, and the government’s commitment to introduce a Revenue Certainty Mechanism to support producers.

To note, the Advanced Fuels Fund has awarded £135m for development of SAF projects across UK. The AFF announced winners of the last year’s funding round in January 2024.
