New-Orleans-based International Matex Tank Terminals will break ground Friday on a $150 million liquid products terminal facility in Geismar.

The Geismar Logistics Center is located on 115 acres in the middle of the Geismar-area chemical complex. It is phasing in limited services immediately and will be in full service in December 2007 with 85 employees. Facility construction will support more than 450 jobs.

Services at the center will include a major packaging/drumming facility and bulk liquid product receipt, storage and shipment via ship, barge, pipeline, truck and rail.

IMTT is a leading handler of packaging, storage and transfer of bulk liquids. It operates 10 terminals in the United States, one in Quebec and one in Newfoundland.
