Tank turns (annualized)
Tank turns (annualized) are defined as the annualized throughput at the berth divided by the total capacity of the terminal. The throughput is calculated by dividing the Maritime Gross Trade by two (2). This means that tank turns are only based on vessels and barges thus excluding rail, truck, pipeline and other volumes that are connected to other modes of transport. We focus on tankers only. Push boats and other ships that are not identified as tankers are excluded from the calculation.
In some cases AIS signal coverage may be poor and this may result in an understatement of the tank turns compared to reality. The information is based on various data sources and may be incomplete or inaccurate due to unforeseen reasons.
