India Nayara Says Vadinar Refinery Turnaround Completed

June 04, 2026 [Reuters]- Russia-backed Indian refiner Nayara Energy has completed the scheduled turnaround of its 400,000 barrels per day refinery at Vadinar in western Gujarat state, it said in a statement on Thursday.
- Nayara’s Vadinar refinery accounts for about 8% of India’s total refining capacity and approximately 7% of its retail fuel network.
- Apart from routine maintenance, the private refiner upgraded units to improve product quality and enable longer operating cycles between planned maintenance shutdowns.
- Russian oil major Rosneft holds a stake in Nayara Energy.
- Nayara turned to meeting India’s local fuel demand instead of exports after the European Union placed the private refiner under sanctions in July last year.
- Nayara has been processing only Russian oil at its Vadinar refinery, as its other suppliers, Iraq’s SOMO and Saudi Aramco, halted supplies due to payment difficulties following sanctions.
