May 05, 2026 [Renewables Now]- Polish hydrogen company Hynfra PSA said today that Jordan’s government has approved an agreement between Jordan Green Ammonia (JGA) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for the development of a green ammonia and hydrogen project in the country.

The developer is a joint venture between Hynfra and UAE-based chemical company Fidelity Group.

Hynfra CEO Tomoho Umeda said the approval positions Jordan as a major player in the emerging global ecosystem of green hydrogen and ammonia. Danish clean energy tech firm Topsoe was recently engaged to conduct a detailed front-end engineering design (FEED) study on the USD-1-billion (EUR 854m) project.

Located in the port of Aqaba, it will feature 550 MW of solar capacity and a 500-MWh energy storage system, and will produce around 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia a year.

Financial close is targeted for September, with commercial operations expected to begin in November 2030.
